Since I’m unable to cook everything I want for the blog every single month, I have enlisted the help of a friend of mine to bring a little more variety. Every month or so, Andrea will share some of the links that have caught her attention the most over the past few weeks. Andrea loves to cook as much as I do. She also tries hard to find new, exciting, and healthy things to feed her family. She always finds the most interesting and intriguing (not to mention delicious sounding) recipes, so I knew I had to share her with you all. Enjoy! -Darla
Happy New Year! It’s me, Andrea, again. Hope you all aren’t getting tired of me yet. I really enjoy coming on here and being able to share some of the recipes I find online that really pique my interest! It’s a good outlet for my addiction!
I know Darla showed you her list of her 2011 kitchen resolutions, but I wanted to show you a few of mine as well. Hers look amazing, and I hope she shares her successes with us because I’m dying of curiosity over most of them. I must admit I’ve already made Pioneer Woman’s cinnamon rolls, along with her variation for orange rolls! If you haven’t tried them, they are a must try! Sooooo good! (I’m not really sure that’s enough o’s considering how good they are!) The heart cake though…wow! I know Darla will do a great job with that one! I’m already picturing her take on it.
So, for my list? How can I top some of the things Darla put on hers? I’m really glad it isn’t a contest because I don’t think I could. I decided that I needed to work my way through the mounds of recipes that I have stored in my recipe box on allrecipes.com. I mean, I have 219 recipes saved on there, and have only actually tried a handful of them. I think this is a list I definitely need to tackle.
A friend of mine has a husband that is from India. She cooks A LOT! I love reading her posts on Facebook telling all the things that she has made that day or is planning on making. I keep telling her I’m going to come over and let her teach me the ways, but with my new, very busy schedule it just hasn’t happened. I REALLY need to do that soon! So, anyway, I found this recipe for Naan and I really want to try it. I just love making bread!
Maple Pecan Shortbread Squares. Need I say more? Yum! Can’t wait to try these!
Breakfast is one of my favorite meals. I love everything about breakfast, and I like to mix it up. I don’t like to make the same thing every time, especially now that I don’t have a ton of time to cook it anymore. This granola looks yummy, and I think my kids would like it. My oldest will only eat it if I don’t put the almonds in it, but I’ll just have to make two batches then won’t I?
I’ve been wanting to try this chicken recipe for a while now. I’m not sure how my kids will do with it though, because of the jalapeños, so I haven’t tried it. I try to incorporate many different foods into their diet though. I’m trying hard not to raise picky eaters here! I like to add some spice to their foods too, just so they aren’t afraid of a little spice later. Hope I’m not doing them a disservice.
As I said before, my schedule has gotten much busier lately, and my slow cooker will probably become my best friend! This slow cooker recipe for French dip would make for a wonderful dinner for my kids and me. It’s a must try!
Last, but not least, I have a cookies and cream cheesecake recipe that I have been holding onto for a long time! I don’t know why I haven’t tried it yet. I LOVE cheesecake! Here‘s the recipe. I may make this one before the end of the month. I think it has been in my recipe box for far too long, and definitely needs to be tried!
