Christmas is right around the corner, and I’m in a giving mood. What better then, than to give away some of my favorite things? After all, they always play that song on the radio around Christmas time.
I wish I could give away all of my favorite things, but alas, I am not Santa Claus. I don’t have countless little elves running around a work shop making things at my beck and call.
But I need to look into that.
Anyway, that’s why I tried to narrow it down to some of my very favoritest, general things. No Harry Potter or Firefly, no Doctor Who goodies today. These are all some simple kitchen, beauty, and yummy favorites of mine that I want to share with you.
First, here are a few of my everyday beauty favorite things…and some candy. 🙂
The truth is, yes, I completely adore Harry Potter. I’m head over heels for Doctor Who and Firefly. I’m full-on geek-smitten with Star Trek. And. I’m an ultra girly, like sparkly things, wear makeup, and get manis and pedis kind of girl. My beauty favorites list is a mile long.
Somehow, I’m not sure how, I managed to narrow that miles-long list down to the bare essentials.
*pats myself on the back*
Also, I have a candy problem. A real candy addiction problem. I deserve congratulations for picking just one.
So. I’m allergic to perfume. Most perfume. It’s weird and it sucks, but it’s a fact. So when I stumbled onto Pacifica products at Whole Foods a few years ago, I was pretty darn happy, because I’d been perfume-less for about five or six years.
My husband even told me that I never smelled like a girl.
I’m sure he meant it in the nicest way possible……….but, um…
I tested out several of Pacifica’s scents, and YAY! No sneezing or blotchiness after applying it. It is, of course, my favorite perfume company, but they also sell lots of candles and other home and beauty products, so how about $25 to spend on their website? My personal fave perfumes are the floral-y Waikiki Pikake and the earthy, fruity Mediterranean Fig.
I cannot exist without my Burt’s Bees Replenishing Pomegranate Lip Balm. ‘Nuf said. And ever since I discovered Essie’s Matte About You matte top coat my life has been complete. Now all of my nail polishes are twice as valuable.
You need cute, trim nails before you can paint them and matte them out, so you have to have a Sweeter Than a Cupcake Manicure Set from Modcloth (actual cupcake case may look different). I keep mine in my purse at all times. It’s vital. It’s necessary. It’s life or death. Plus, it’s totally adorable.
Now, how about we get into my favorite things from the kitchen?
My kitchen favorites are very specific. Yes, I have tons of tools and gadgets and appliances that I feel like I just can’t live without, but the things included in this giveaway were all life changing for me. Seriously.
I mean it.
First up is a Silpat Mat, (11.75 x 8.25), and my favorite baking cookbook ever.
I seriously love my Silpat mats. The have saved me so, so, SO much money on parchment paper.
My very most favorite baking cookbook is Baking Illustrated, from the publishers of Cook’s Illustrated magazine and America’s Test Kitchen. This was my first baking cookbook, and I still love it and use it nonstop to this day.
I’ve had it for years and years, and I still have all of these bookmarks of recipes to try.
Here’s some Americolor Food Writers, in black, because their fun. These are way better than the Wilton kind that you can get at the craft store. Don’t get me wrong, I have those, too, and they work great, but these are fantastic. So far, there hasn’t been anything, within reason, that they wouldn’t write on.
If you haven’t gotten any of these greaseproof, brown cupcake liners, you’re seriously missing out. They really are the best. The make cupcakes look clean, simple, and elegant. Just with a plain, brown liner. Crazy.
I have a scoop. I love my scoop. My scoop changed cupcake baking for me, for the best. Two scoops from the Norpro Stainless Steel Scoop and you have a perfectly measured standard cupcake every. single. time. Word.
Prettyyyyyy. And easy. Woohoo!
And, of course, you can’t make cupcakes without The Best-Ever Cupcake Icing Kit from Bake It Pretty. It really is the best. Ever. It’s been one of my very favorite kitchen toys for months and months. It comes with five (!!!) large icing tips and a washable and reusable decorating bag, all of which are indispensable.
Alright, so yeah, KitchenAid stand mixers are fan-flipping-tastic. I have two, I love them, but there really is a time when you need a good, reliable hand mixer. For example, let’s say you need to whisk something over heat on the stovetop and all you have is your crap hand and a handheld whisk. Not. Fun.
That’s why I’m including this pretty pink Cuisinart Hand Mixer. I have it. That’s mine up there in the picture (yes, I keep my boxes, much easier storage that way). I love it.
Does it replace a stand mixer? Nope. Does it matter? Nope. This thing can do things a stand mixer can’t, and it’s worth having around. Seriously, it can make whipped cream in, like, 30 seconds. Favorite.
