Happy Fourth Blogiversary, Bakingdom! {Giveaway-Updated}

*The giveaway is now closed. Thank you so much to everyone who entered!*

Bakingdom Fourth Blogiversary CakeA happy cake for a happy, happy day!

Today, Bakingdom is four years old!

I can’t believe that my blog has grown up so much, and that I have been blogging for four years. Including this one, I have written 461 posts. What the what?! Wow. That’s a bit mind-boggling when I write it out like that. I sometimes come across one and think, “When did I make that? I have no knowledge of this place.” But it’s there, on the inter webs, for all to read, so I know I did it.

Out of the 461 posts I’ve shared with you, 268 of them have had chocolate. Two-hundred and sixty-eight. To be honest, I’m surprised that numbers is so low. ;) I’ve shared 173 cookies posts with you, 170 cupcakes, and 270 posts about cake. Yet, somehow, I still have so much to share! And I can hardly wait to do it. I’m so grateful to be blessed to wake up every day with the opportunity to do what I love. From the recipe creation, to the photo editing, I love every recipe I get to put on Bakingdom, and I’m endlessly thankful that you enjoy reading my blog.

Thanks for the fun, and thank you for the support. I’m pretty sure I’m the luckiest blogger in all the land!

Neapolitan Rice Krispy Treat Cake from BakingdomFor this year’s bloggy birthday cake, I couldn’t decide what I wanted. I considered cake, cupcakes, maybe cookies…I wanted chocolate, then strawberry…I couldn’t decide. Then, I realized, why am I agonizing?? This year had to be Rice Krispy Treats. I mean, I have zero willpower where they’re concerned, they make unbelievably happy, and you can do fun and beautiful things with them. As for flavor…why do I have to pick just one?? So I had three: strawberry, chocolate hazelnut, and classic vanilla. All together under a blanket of rich buttercream, for the best Neapolitan treats ever.

Nutella Neapolitan Rice Krispy Treat Cake from BakingdomI totally made the right choice. I’ll be sharing the recipe for these irresistible treats next week, but for now, I’d like to say thank you to you, and show my appreciation with a little giveaway of some goodies from my new favorite shop, Cath Kidston.

I have to pick just one??? lol I suppose I will have to choose cheesecake. I’m not sure I’ve ever had a bad one. :) However, red velvet cake, my mom’s 7 layer cookies and my mom’s hobo pies will fall close behind.

Cheese cake! No…. warm chewy peanut butter cookies. No…. cake, birthday cake. Ugh… do I have to pick just one? lol Happy 4th Birthday bakingdom! I don’t have a twitter account, but wanted to make sure to wish you happy birthday anyway. =)

My favorite dessert is probably cake. No particular flavor, although I really like a strong vanilla flavor. It has to be moist and fresh. I like vanilla cause it can go with any topping.

  7. Danielle T. says

I absolutely love the Italian candy Torrone. Unfortunately it’s unavailable locally here and unless I want to spend a fortune ordering some online, I will keep searching for a good recipe- the few I’ve tried all went horribly wrong :(

  8. Jen George says

I’d have to go with chocolate cream pie or my decadent peanut butter pie. As long as it has chocolate, I’m a happy girl!

  11. Lauren says

I love way too many desserts to pick just one, but since it’s probably best to pick just *one*, I’d have to say chocolate cake with my nana’s buttercream recipe! That stuff is addicting…I want some right now! Happy blogiversery, Bakingdom!

  21. says

I always enjoy your blog posts and your Instagram photos. Happy blog birthday! I love desserts so it is hard to pick a favorite, but if I have to choose it would be brownies! If I make a pan, it takes all my will power not to eat them all.

  22. says

Congratulations and HUZZAH! You site is always the first place I got for dessert recipes. Probably my favorite dessert ever is a fruit tart. I especially love making my own with your recipe. =)

  24. Leann says

Happy Birthday, bakingdom! I love red velvet cupcakes. My Mom would make them for my birthday even though it’s in June. Kind of funny since it’s more of a winter cake. :)

  25. Bernadette says

Happy Bakingdom Birthday Darla! Congratulations, the blog is getting bigger by the day. Looking forward to more beautiful photos, recipes, Harry posts and stories.

I would have to say my favorite treat is David Lebovitz’s chocolate ice cream, it makes anything in the stores taste bland and flavorless.

  26. Lisa W says

Happy anniversary!! This is such a hard question but I have to say my chocolate chip cookies warm from the oven – with a glass of cold milk! Thanks for the chance to win.

  27. Debbie says

Happy 4th Birthday Bakingdom! It has been a fun ride with you!

There are so many wonderful tastes and textures to eat for dessert. And to only pick one is really, really hard. You see, I am a cookie monster, fluffy fruity whipped dessert, still loving my pies and cakes and looove watermelon kind of a woman!

If I have to pick just one, I will select my step-grandmother’s Strawberry Cake that uses frozen strawberries in both the icing as well as cake.

Wishing you tons of luck in the coming years! I always look forward to your posts!

  28. Jacquline B says

My favourite is pumpkin pie. It’s such a production in our house. We make it from scratch. From pureeing the pumpkins ourselves to rolling the dough – it’s always an experience!

  29. Amanda J says

That’s such a hard question to answer! I love chocolate chip cookies and brownies and cake and pie… but right now I’m smothering brownies and cake in nutella buttercream frosting, and I guess you can’t go wrong with that!

my favorite desert would be a tie between chocolate chip cookies or crinkles (when the holiday season is just around the corner).

  35. Angenou says

My favorite dessert is a slight modification of the recipe you posted for Vanilla Swirl Bread, instead prepared as swirl rolls. They end up as these fantastic sticky, vanilla versions of a cinnamon roll. Just add a light vanilla glaze and watch them disappear!

  36. Rachel says

I’m pretty addicted to salted caramel ice cream, but I just made macarons for the first time and ate them all. Immediately. :)

  39. Jessa Isabelle Crisostomo says

Happy birthday! My favorite dessert is called “Inipit”, which is the Filipino term for “pressed together”. It is a local delicacy here in the Philippines. To describe what it looks like, imagine 2 thin slices of light fluffy sponge cake filled with a sweet and creamy custard-like filling. This wonderful dessert has made my town famous, and happily, I learned how to bake it on my own :) I’m a such a baking queen wannabe!

    Darla!

Congrats! I’m not entering the contest, but I couldn’t let this momentous occasion pass without saying Happy 4 Years to my amazing, BFF.

I love your blog for so many reasons. I love the desserts, the photos, the stories, and the geekery. Most of all though, I love that it introduced us to one another. 2 years ago I was just a fan. I even posted a few embarrassing things about how I was a bit of a fangirl of yours (I was. I am). Now, not a day goes by that I don’t talk to you and I can’t imagine a not having you as my friend. Near or far, it matters not. In the wise words of John Green:

“I dislike the phrase “Internet friends”, because it implies the people you know online aren’t really your friends, that somehow the friendship is less real or meaningful to you because it happens through Skype or text messages. The measure of a friendship is not its physicality but its significance.” -John Green, This Star Won’t Go Out forward

I don’t think we could be closer if you lived right next door.

When we finally meet this year in Florida, I feel certain it will be like we’ve seen each other IRL a million times before.

Happy 4th to you and to Bakingdom. One of my favorite sites in all the interwebs.

(PS, feel free to delete this gush after you’ve read it)

    xo, Tina

Happy fourth Blogiversary and thank you for the lovely giveaway. :)
It’s hard to choose, but one of my favorites are definitely my chocolate cookies. :)

    Happy birthday, Bakingdom!!! :)

Mmm…so many treats to choose from! I think I’d have to go with ice cream sandwiches. Cakey cookies and ice cream = love!!!

My favorite dessert is a cinnamon roll, although your cinnamon roll cookies are also divine. As are the cupcakes. Really, anything vaguely resembling a cinnamon roll.

    happy birthday!

it’s really hard to choose just one dessert….my favorite regular dessert is chocolate, but I really love strawberry fraisier for special occasions!

What a loaded question! I love many desserts and sweet treats, but I’d have to say a chocolate fudge cake would have to be my absolute favourite! I love chocolate and love a fudge-y frosting on a moist chocolate cake just ups the ante that much more! There’s a restaurant here in Canada called Swiss Chalet and they have the most amazing chocolate fudge cake I’ve ever had! I’m salivating just thinking about it!

My favorite dessert, as in…PICK JUST ONE?!?! AS IF I COULD CHOOSE!!! I will say that ONE OF my favorite desserts is my uncle’s recipe for baklava. It’s easy and it’s super delicious. I’ve been eating it since I was little, helping make it since I was in junior high, and making it by myself since high school. One fun fact: rose water used to be SOOOO hard to find, but now that more people know of the deliciousness that is baklava, it is a lot easier to find! Yay! :D

Currently my favorite dessert is sticky toffee pudding with caramel sauce. I'm drooling right now thinking about it!

I love all deserts, but chocolate has my favors (i’m a Swiss after all…) and coffee, and I especially love to eat desert at breakfast with capuccino.

I love my mom’s cheesecake recipe. It always brings me good memories about my childhood and my boyfriend loves the recipe so much that he’ll marry me to taste it many years!

I am a Filipino and my favorite dessert is called bibingka! It’s made of ground rice or usually rice flour mixed with coconut milk and baked until golden brown. Topped with cheese and salted eggs! Yum!

I love a lot of desserts, but one will always be my ultimate favorite: Crème Brûlée!! I always wish the Italians would have invented it, so I could have it at my favorite restaurant after my favorite spaghetti :D

Happy birthday Bakingdom! I think I put my reply on the Neopolitan Rice Krispie page! Whoops! Anyway it’s got to be Limoncello Tiramisu or Terrys Chocolate Orange Cheesecake!

My favorite dessert is actually a Chinese one that my grandfather makes called ornee (O-nee). It us hot taro dessert. It’s traditionally served during weddings or special occasions. It brings me back to my roots. Even though I’m only half Teochew (chiu-chow), this dessert reminds me of who i am.

My mom used to make these melt in your mouth pistachio cookies when I was younger. She doesn’t remember them and I’ve never been able to find a recipe that does them justice. I’m hoping against hope I didn’t dream them! :)
