White Chocolate Chip Mint Cookies

I alway love the last couple of weeks of February and the first couple of weeks of March. My birthday is towards the end of February, and shortly into March, the Hubster and I celebrate our wedding anniversary. And actually, not too much later, in April, it's his birthday! It's just a really happy, celebratory time around our house, and he always takes some time off of work. The last two weeks, we've just been hanging out together, relaxing, cooking and ... read more

Donald Duck Tsum Tsum Cupcakes

So I celebrated my Seventh Annual 29th Birthday last week. That's right, in keeping with the long-standing tradtion of the women in my family, I no longer age. And haven't since I turned 29. Six years ago. It's pretty awesome. I can still remember my grandmother, well into her sixth decade on earth, celebrating her 29th birthday. As much as I enjoyed my first 29th birthday, I'm looking forward to each new one every year. I mean, it's quite an ... read more

Chocolate Snickerdoodle Cookie Dough Cupcakes

I think Valentine's Day gets a bad rap. Everybody calls it an excuse for comercialism, but I disagree. It's an excuse for chocolate. The end. To be clear, there's no waiting around for the Hubster to give me chocolates either. I mean, he's a peach, and he likes to surprise me with pretty flowers and yummy chocolates sometimes, but he usually doesn't need an excuse like Valentine's Day. Toldja...he's a peach. But no...the way I see it, the New Year is ... read more

Nutella-filled Merveilleux

Living over here in the Netherlands, nestled down south between Germany and Belgium, only a hop, skip, and a jump from France, I have made acquaintance with something marvelous. Literally. If you haven't had the pleasure, let me introduce you, my friends, to Merveilleux (pronounced mare-vay-yoo) - which translates from French to English as 'marvelous'. Or 'wonderful'. Or, if you want to take artistic license, 'heavenly'. I like to call them marvelous, ... read more

Happy 5th Birthday, Bakingdom! {Giveaway} -UPDATED

If you follow me on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter, than you know that this past Sunday, Bakingdom celebrated turning five years old! If Bakingdom was a little human, it would be starting kindergarten this fall! It's easy for me to think of my blog as a little human, too - as a child of mine. A lot of blood, sweat, and tears have gone into this dear site of mine, but a whole lot more joy, laughter, and love has gone into, too. I love Bakingdom like a ... read more

Speculoos Swirl Meringues

January is such a tough month. Unless you live somewhere warm and sunny during this time of year, that is. There's not a whole lot of sunshine in January is there? The holidays are over, the excitement of the New Year is winding down, and it's cold and pretty gloomy. Don't get me wrong - there's something to be said for snuggling up in fuzzy clothes, wrapping up in a cuddly blanket, and cracking open a good book on a cold, blustery January day. But ... read more

Homemade Butterscotch Sauce, a.k.a. Butterbeer Sauce

I decided I wanted to make butterscotch sauce the other day, because I'd never made it, and honestly, I'd never tasted it before, and I was all prepared to regale you with the glories of homemade butterscotch sauce until I saw the picture above and instead feel the need to point out that Harry Potter has appeared in my food, and I now have no choice but to call this 'butterbeer sauce', and pour it on sundaes and fresh green apples and call everything ... read more

Peppermint Sugar Cookies

Every year, I buy candy canes to hang on the Christmas tree. And every year, I have a gajillion candy canes leftover after Christmas, because nobody ate any of them. I always think that everyone will snag a cane as they walk by the tree throughout the season. I like the idea of this sort of free-for-all, no-rules-against-candy-before-dinner candy hanging around, literally, for people to enjoy. Plus, they're pretty. Except no one ever eats them. ... read more

Easy and Festive Wreath Cake

Do you remember what your favorite gift was when you were a little kid? I've always loved the part in The Santa Clause 2 when he gives all of the adults the toys they wanted or loved the most in the childhoods. The idea of reconnecting with a lost piece of childhood like that is so beautiful to me. When I was seven years old, my family suffered a house fire. We lost everything, if not from fire, then from smoke and water damage. Obviously, my family ... read more

Pretty Pastel Reindeer Cookies

When I was little, I had a Rainbow Brite doll. I loved her to pieces, but a few years after I got her, we had a house fire, and I lost her forever. Rainbow was my GURL. Every year, two or three times a year, I go onto eBay and ogle vintage Rainbow Brite dolls. Do you ever buy stuff on eBay?? Not necessarily the 'Buy it Now' stuff, but auctions? Watching, bidding, hoping-to-win auctions. Are you an early bidder? Like...do you reveal yourself right ... read more

Simple Yellow Cupcakes with Easy Jam Buttercream

I made these cupcakes several weeks ago, way back before my Disney trip. Summer was drawing out, all my friends had moved back to the U.S. or Canada, or were traveling for the summer. I was homesick and lonely. Obviously, the answer was easy, delicious, happy cupcakes. Really happy cupcakes. Pink frosting, pinwheels, ballerinas, and sprinkles...pure happy. And they totally did the trick! Now, Autumn is in full swing, Thanksgiving is right around the ... read more

Peanut Butter Pumpkin Caramel Cookies

Next week, the Hubster and I are leaving for a week-long trip to Scotland. I'm pretty much freaking out, because, you know, Scotland. Last year, near this time (in December), we went to Oxford and London. We did a Harry Potter super tour and visited all of the places where they filmed, or that were talked about in the books. We hit up the Bodleian Library and Christ Church College in Oxford. We went to King's Cross Station and other Potter-esque locales in ... read more

Mocha Cookies and Cream Cupcakes with Skull Cameo Chocolates

Welp, Halloween is the day after tomorrow. You guys have any big plans?? We don't. I tried really hard to find a party for us to go to (only so we could wear our Carl and Ellie costumes again), but then I remembered I live in the Netherlands and Halloween just isn't a thing here. Also, I remembered I don't really like parties. I'm wild and crazy and would rather curl up on the sofa with my boys and watch Hocus Pocus than try to make small talk with ... read more
